about
John was a collector and trader of old Gibson and Epiphone acoustic guitars, and he surely appreciated them to the fullest. His knowledge of rare acoustic guitars was impressive and he captures the why in this song. I'm taking a whack at it in the roadhouse style figuring this is one he could see my americana steel guitar featuring band might do. We never got around to it but it sure would have fit into our repertoire so I'm attempting to recreate that here. I think I play the electric upright on this one too.
lyrics
Verse 1:
She’s a great guitar, she’s got a real nice neckD
I picked her up, I can’t put her back
She’s a great guitar, she’s got a sweet sweet sound
Gonna bring her along with me when I ramble ’round
Chorus 1:
The old lady says “man, you don’t need another axe
You got bills to pay, you got no income tax
Dammit this time you’ve gone to far”
But I don’t care! She’s a great guitar!
Verse 2:
She’s a great guitar listen to her sing
She’s got those bass notes, and the high end ring
She’s a great guitar, she’s got a sweet sweet sound
Gonna bring her along with me when I ramble ‘round
Chorus 2:
“Good afternoon, ma’am, this is Bob down at the Guitar Center,
We got an old Gibson come in here your husband’s just gonna love”
“Well thanks for callin’, Bob, I’ll be sure to tell him.”

verse 3:
“He’s got a 335, he’s got Hummingbird,
Got an old SJ, this is my final word.
Gonna be a star at the corner bar”
And I don’t care! She’s a great guitar!
Half Verse:
“Hey honey I’m home, anybody call today?”
“No.”, ”Well, oh, okay.”
